Enrich - What I did today 29/6/11

Today at Enrich we started off with leader-board chess. I played Zatoya. I got beaten because I only had a king left and she still had a rook, king, queen and a pawn! I did not move up a space which was sad but I did try. I did P4C. Katie asked us the question: Should you let the little things bother you? I think we should not let the little things bother us because if they get bigger you should but if they are not big, don't worry about them for the time being. We had brain food. After brain food I made a thank you card for Windsor North School for the donations of books towards Phoenix and my passion project.

What I did today 15.6.11

Today it was gifted week at Enrich. Today we focussed on doing a blog post on what it means to be gifted . I finished mine in the morning. It was really fun. We were split into 2 groups for the morning. If you were not doing your blog post you were playing leader board chess. I played Katie and Hannah. I lost to Katie and Hannah.

This activity was about perfectionism. Perfectionism is when you panic about something not being perfect.

We had to name all the animals we can think of starting with the letter B. Here are some of the words I put. Bat , Bee , Butterfly and some more.

Leaderboard chess

Today I played two games of leaderborad chess. My games were against Katie and Hannah. I lost all my games. I had no time left when I played Katie I had time when I played Hannah. I had 45 seconds left and Hannah had 1 second left. Hannah was lucky because she got me into checkmate at her last second.

What does it mean to be gifted 15.6.11

This week is Gifted week.The word gifted is for me is that when you're special with different talents. At Enrich we do passion projects and Talent Development. Here are the names of the talent development activities Art, ICT and Science. My definition of gifted is you stand out in the crowd. The bad bit about being gifted is that people at school ask you a lot of stuff sometimes they use you like an answer machine. At school I am not good at some subjects and if I do not know the answer to the question people say you should know this because you go to Enrich.

My Passion Project 8.6.11

Today Phoenix and I went to the library because I was looking at books for Discovery 1. Discovery 1 is a school in Christchurch that has been badly effected by the earthquake. We looked at some chapter books that have not been used at the library for 2 years. They had so many chapter books at the library! We looked through some of the books and we got some brand new books given to us for Discovery 1. We saw some sets of different books.They had some boy books , girls books and mixed books. My favourite bit of all is that we are doing it for Christchurch.

Affective Domain Workshop 8.6.11

Today I did the Affective Domain workshop with Darryn. Today we looked at Tannenbaum's model of giftedness. We thought that his model is very similar to Gagne's model. This Star is Tannenbaum's model. The whole meaning of Affective Domain is to find out what gifted means. We looked at all of the meanings that he has on his model. His model has general ability , special aptitude , nonintellective requisites ,environmental supports and chance.
